Ladyfest needs you!

Ladyfest Oxford '09 Poster

Ladyfest is an international festival which has taken place in over fifty cities since 2000 and, in 2009, Oxford will be holding in its second ever festival! In Trinity term this year, we had an amazing day with lots of wonderful female performers, and raised loads of money for Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre; this year we want the festival to be even bigger and better.

Ladyfest is a non-profit festival which presents and supports the creative talents of professional and amateur female acts in our community, including performances and workshops. The aim of the festival is to celebrate women's creative talents and to raise awareness of the underrepresented and marginalised nature of women's creative efforts. Both men and women, students and locals, are very welcome to be involved in organising our events, but we feel that to demonstrate the underrepresentation of women's acts in cultural activities the performances ought to be women-only, or majority-women if not possible.

To continue the success of Ladyfest we need you to help organise or contribute to the events in any way possible; this includes advertising and promoting the event, booking acts, sound engineers, fundraising and many more. Many of the roles needn't be time consuming or involve a regular commitment, so if you would like to be involved even in a small way then we would love to hear from you.

***** This year's Ladyfest will be held at different venues across Oxford from 18th May to 23rd May *****
